Cameroon Catalyst supported by CEMAR...

We are delighted to announce that CEMAR is sponsoring the delivery of a new well and pump in support of the international development charity, Cameroon Catalyst.  Its focus is on promoting sustainable development in the eastern region of Cameroon, bringing together students, engineers and specialists in developing projects that fulfil a real need on the ground.

Cameroon Catalyst was co-founded by civil engineer Claire Gott MBE who explains the critical impact of their projects and how support from companies like CEMAR can make a huge difference, “Over 50% of rural Cameroon are without clean drinking water. Thanks to CEMAR’s recent contribution, Cameroon Catalyst will be delivering another well to provide clean drinking water for over 200 villagers! These small tangible enhancements to basic infrastructure directly improve quality of life for rural communities and help them move away from the vicious cycle of poverty. By appointing only local specialists and suppliers to deliver each project, we are also investing in the growth of their practical skills and encouraging a more sustainable local economy.”

CEMAR highly commended at Construction News Specialists Awards 2017...

CEMAR was highly commended in the ‘Technology Supplier of the Year’ category at the Construction News Specialist Awards 2017.

The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of the very best specialist contractors in the UK and are the only national awards to do so.

The Judges commented
“CEMAR’s business model was developed with the construction industry specifically in mind, rather than being a system that could trickle through any number of sectors beyond construction and engineering.”

“…significant investment had been made into the technology, … impressed with the level of dedication and attention the innovation had received from boardroom level.”

“… technology on show focused on the company as a whole, as opposed to a single product, and that CEMAR was taking an active role in trying to help clients navigate construction contracts.”

CEMAR CEO, Ben Walker commented
“We are delighted with the result. With a focus on effective project management, the new generation of construction contracts demand ‘event management’; distinct from, and just as important, as document management.  We are committed to leading in this space.”

This commendation follows the recent Gloucestershire Business Awards 2016, at which CEMAR were finalists.

CEMAR to sponsor World Record attempt at the Institution of Civil Engineers...

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) will open a brand new exhibition space in their refurbished library this Autumn with their first event called Bridge Engineering.  CEMAR are proud to sponsor the grand opening and centrepiece of this exhibition which is an attempt to build the World’s longest spanning LEGO bridge.

CEMAR Director and chartered member of the ICE, Nick Woodrow, suggested the idea as a civil engineering challenge that would require conventional design and build principles but would also add an element of fun and reach out to visitors of all ages –

“When you think of the number of engineers who must have grown up experimenting with LEGO structures, it seemed a natural choice for the bridge construction. The attempt to beat the World Record adds an exciting element and we hope to inspire many of tomorrow’s engineers.”

Hinkley Point C chooses CEMAR – part of the £18 billion investment to power the future...

EDF Energy are building two new reactors at Hinkley Point on the northern Somerset coast, the first in a new generation of UK nuclear power stations, marking a significant moment in the revitalisation of the UK’s nuclear power industry.  A new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point will not only provide a clean, secure and affordable source of electricity for around five million homes, but it will also provide:

  • Around 900 jobs at the new power stations for more than 60 years
  • Around 25,000 employment opportunities throughout the build for nearly a decade
  • A programme of investment in community wellbeing, education, employment and skills
  • Opportunities for businesses to win a share of the £18 billion to be invested in construction

Hinkley Point C is a proposed 3.2 GW nuclear power plant with two EPR reactors (each of 1.6GW), producing almost four times more electricity than the Hinkley Point B station’s two reactors.

We are delighted to announce that CEMAR has been selected to be the system to manage the vast portfolio of design, construction and maintenance contracts across the various forms of NEC3 and FIDIC contracts.

As part of the roll out and implementation of CEMAR, we continue to work closely with NNB in successfully integrating CEMAR with other cloud based solutions within their Common Data Environment.
